Select the Configuration Loader when you want field personnel to be able to easily install Sixnet I/O Modules and industrial RTUs while performing routine maintenance functions. However, you do not want them to alter the configuration of the stations.
The Configuration Loader will load any or all of the configuration files defined in a project (.6pj) file. While the functionality of the equipment cannot be altered by this software, certain communication and identification parameters can be changed prior to being loaded. This feature makes it possible to have one standard configuration that is loaded "cookie cutter" into multiple stations, with only the identification and/or communication parameters of the station being set at the time of installation. Parameters that can be set in this manner include:

Station number

Serial number

Ethernet set up, including the IP address of the station

Serial port settings such as baud rate, protocol choice, etc.

Some Capabilities Of The Configuration Loader Include:
- Calibration of analog I/O channels
- Test I/O window for verifying I/O functionality
- Read back of a configuration from the station (see the note below)
- Upgrading firmware in an RTU or controller
- Setting a Sixnet station's clock
- Resetting or clearing a Sixnet station's configuration
- Access to the extensive help documentation for all Sixnet Windows programs
Note: The Configuration Loader can alter the parameters listed above and can read back the configuration in a station for diagnostic purposes, but it will not permit the altered project file to be saved. This ensures that version control can be maintained over the official project file. If alteration of the project file is required, use the Sixnet I/O Tool Kit to make the changes.

A license for the Configuration Loader may be ordered under this part number directly from Sixnet. The Configuration Loader may also be licensed as part of the "Remote Access" option group when registering the Sixnet I/O Tool Kit. This one license can be used with both the Sixnet I/O Tool Kit and the Configuration Loader. (Merely load the appropriate software onto each computer – the Sixnet I/O Tool Kit on your engineering computer and the Configuration Loader on the laptop computer that is used for field service.
To register this software, follow the instructions in the registration window (found on the help menu) within the software. Fax or e-mail your registration request as instructed within the window. The Configuration Loader may be previewed by downloading it from automation downloads.
